the First International Congress of Consultation/Liaison (CL) Psychiatry and
Psychosomatics which will be held at Oporto, a city known for its friendship, its
hard-working citizens and the famous port wine.
The Congress is hosted by the "Grupo Português de
Psiquiatria Consiliar/Ligação e Psicossomática" a Medical Society which was born
from the work of the European CL Workgroup for the Effectiveness of CL Psychiatry in the
General Hospital.
The main theme of the Congress is "New
Challenges on CL Psychiatry".
We extend to you a cordial invitation to meet us.

| Among the points of interest of the town are the old
quarter (Sé), with narrow, cobbled streets, the cathedral (12th-18th century), the tower
of the Clerics, the University of Oporto, the churches with "azulejos", the
National Museum of Soares dos Reis, the banks of the Douro River, the promenades near the
Atlantic Ocean, the granitic Architecture. Cale, a
pre-roman settlement was occupied by the Romans and became known as Portus Cale - from
which came the name of Portugal. The Visigoths held the city around 540 until 716, when
the Moors gained control. The Moors relinquished the town in the late 11th century. The
city developed as an exporting Centre of port wine in the late 17th century. Vila Nova de
Gaia, town located in the southern bank of the River Douro, is the principal site of the
region's famed wine storage warehouses.
Other products exported from the region are fish, textiles,
clothing, granite. |

No final deste Workshop deverá:
Estar familiarizado com o impacto das novas tecnologias de informação
nas Ciências da Saúde.
Saber reunir os requisitos técnicos para operacionalizar soluções nesta área.
Estar apto na óptica do utilizador a manejar os principais recursos de forma a responder
às crescentes solicitações diárias nas vertentes clínica, investigacional e de
ensino.
Poder equacionar criticamente a margem de aplicação destas tecnologias na prática

OBJECTIVOS PEDAGÓGICOS
Este
Curso Pré-Congresso tem como objectivos:
- Actualizar os conhecimentos sobre as Dependências
- Encarar numa perspectiva global as situações de
dependência, sem esquecer os condicionalismos sociais e culturais.
- Será dada particular atenção às situações de risco,
pondo em destaque o papel desempenhado pela vulnerabilidade individual e social das
populações e o papel da exposição determinada pelo meio.
- Será tomada em consideração o processo dos consumos e
relações de objecto, neste caso a pensar nas dependências não químicas, abordando de
seguida os processos evolutivos em termos psicopatológicos, as situações clinicas a
prevenção, o tratamento e reabilitação. Não fica esquecida a possibilidade de debater
os consumos numa perspectiva de normalidade e de natureza controlada
- A preocupação dos coordenadores será a de criar um clima
de interacção que permita uma participação activa e criativa dos intervenientes neste
Curso.

| Hotel reservation Tentative room reservations have been made in various hotel
categories. Special rates have been obtained for the congress participants.
For all hotel - as well as tour - reservations the attached Booking Form must be returned
to the Congress Secretariat duly filled in, together with the required
deposits. Requests for hotel accommodation will be treated on "first come first
served" basis; therefore, hotel alternatives should be specified in order of priority
in the Booking Form. Should the desired accommodation be fully booked, the best
alternative solutions will be offered. As only a limited number of single rooms are
available, double rooms for single occupancy may be used, at the same rates as single
rooms.

be sent together with the registration form.
Notes: All bank charges, including those of the

Confirmation
Confirmation of hotel

Cancellations of bookings must be
made in writing to the Congress Secretariat. Refunds will be made according to the

clothing |

| The weather in May is
pleasantly warm, with temperature ranging 16º and 20º. Occasional showers may occur. In
Portugal people dress informally. Light clothes with a light overcoat or seater for the
